2020 Competitive Showcase
DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: Friday, March 6, 2020 (5 pm)
The Competitive Showcase highlights and rewards outstanding projects, events, or activities carried out by neighborhood organizations in Metropolitan Nashville & Davidson County.
Neighborhood organizations (such as a neighborhood association, crime watch program, homeowners association, resident/condo association, and coalition of neighborhood organizations) are invited to apply to participate in the Competitive Showcase held during C4N Nashville.
Up to five (5) neighborhood organizations will be selected to participate in the Competitive Showcase, which will include an oral presentation and table display.
All prizes will be awarded onsite to the neighborhood organization (not to individuals). Checks will be award in the following amounts: First Place ($500), Second Place ($250), and Third Place ($100).
This must be a project, event, or activity of a neighborhood organization within Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County.
The project, event, or activity must have occurred (all or in large part) between October 1, 2018 and December 31, 2019.
RULES FOR ENTERING
Neighborhood organizations may submit only one entry to be considered.
Your application must be received by 5 pm on Friday, March 6, 2020.

Hand-deliver to our offices and training center at 240 Great Circle Road (Suite 318), Nashville, TN 37228
Up to five (5) neighborhood organizations will be selected to compete in the showcase, and will be notified during the week of March 9th.
Entrants must commit to participating in the Competitive Showcase and Awards Luncheon held during C4N Nashville.
ORAL PRESENTATIONS & TABLE DISPLAYS
Organizations participating in the Competitive Showcase will receive a full scholarship to C4N Nashville for the person the designate as presenter.
Maps, photographs and related printed materials used for the project, event, or activity are highly encouraged. Digital audio or video components are welcome, but any necessary accommodations (such as a projector) should be requested on the entry form.
Table displays will be set up in the room where the Competitive Showcase is being held. We will provide a table (approximately 6’ wide by 3’ deep). You will be able to set up your display between 8:00 am and 9:55 am. Displays must be removed following the competition.
Oral presentations (including digital or audio components) will be limited to 10 minutes (7 minutes for your presentation and 3 minutes for Q&A by the judges and audience. Oral presentations will be from 10 am - 11 am. Oral presentations will be video-taped and available online.
The designated presenter must check in at the Competitive Showcase no later than 9:30 am.
Competitive Showcase Displays and Oral Presentations will be reviewed by a panel of three (3) judges. Judging will be based on the following criteria:
A. TABLE DISPLAY: Does the display effectively communicate to the viewer the purpose of the project, event, or activity? What is the quality of the information? What is the level of creativity and innovation? What is the level of audience engagement? (20 points)
B. ORAL PRESENTATION & DELIVERY: Is the presentation clear, concise, and engaging? Is the information presented with confidence by the speaker? What is the quality of the information? What is the level of organization? (20 points)
C. PLANNING/IMPLEMENTATION/EVALUATION: Were the objectives and/or desired outcomes set forth for the project achieved? What is the level of stakeholder involvement? What is the level of creativity and innovation? What is the level of collaboration and outreach to the larger community? What is the quality of work and adaptability? (30points)
D. IMPACT: Did the project/event/activity move the neighborhood and/or organization to the next level? Is there a possibility for replication? Was their neighborhood involvement? Was the objective reached or the problem solved? (30 points)
Winners will be announced during the luncheon (11:15 am - 1:00 pm). Checks will be awarded at that time and photographs will be taken.
QUESTIONS / CONCERNS
