Create Positive Change in My Neighborhood
Identifying a neighborhood problem and the underlying issues--together--is important in creating positive change.
Many a well-intentioned neighbor has identified a problem, developed a solution, and worked to make change -- without involving their neighbors -- only to find that it ended in frustration.
Creating positive change in a neighborhood usually begins when a resident reaches out to other neighbors and begins a conversation.
Once an issue of concern to a neighborhood problem and the underlying issues have been identified, it is critical that the group remain focused on crafting and working toward possible solutions. Remaining stuck on the problem does not allow for the creation of positive change.
Neighbor 2 Neighbor works with residents and neighborhood groups seeking to create positive change.

Connect with My Neighbors
According to a recent study by the Pew Center for Research, only 43% (roughly 4 in 10 people) know most or all of their neighbors. Other studies find that many residents don’t feel like they belong to their neighborhood. There is an increasing sense of isolation and a decrease in the quality of life.
Creating a safer and more vibrant neighborhood begins with connecting with you neighbors. Here are some great ideas for connecting:
-
If your neighborhood has a neighborhood group (association, crime watch program, HOA, etc.), attend one of the meetings.
-
Take the Good Neighbor Challenge and introduce yourself to the residents on either side of where you live.
-
Share some baked goods or veggies with a new resident. Be the first to say hello.
-
Sit out on your front porch or stoop and wave as people pass by.
-
Just walk through your neighborhood and say hello.
-
Host a party or cook-out and invite your neighbors.
Neighbor 2 Neighbor has some great community building and team building activities that will help your residents connect and more effectively work together toward the good of the whole neighborhood.
